I recently 'stumbled' on a wonderful local non-profit that really hit home for me and I want to help! I have faith with all of my heart and soul that if enough caring people get together, anything is possible! We are now focusing OUR "spare" time and energies to help in any way that we can!, , This non-profit provides some awesome, much needed help to local women (and their children) who are in an abusive situation and want to get out AND/OR have just gotten out of an abusive situation and don't know what to do next! This group does all that they do on a very small, tight budget and with the awesome generosity of some wonderful volunteers and donations!, , This program is a blessing and a Godsend to all who are in need! , , Women in abusive situations rarely have anyone that they can turn to for help, guidance, assistance or even a friendly, trusting ear/shoulder. This program provides all of that and much more! Their goal is to help women in abusive situations to become empowered... And to teach kids that all that they are seeing (at home) isn't how love is supposed to be! , , BUT, most who are in this situation have to leave everything behind in order to get out quickly and safely. Many leave with just the clothes on their backs. Without support, these women can't find help to make a better life for themselves and their children. You can help! , , I am posting this here because I KNOW that there are still caring, loving and compassionate out there! My hope and prayer is that some of you will open your hearts to these families in any way that you're able., , In the next few weeks, our program is planning a couple of fun AND educational activities for the children they serve. (Kids living in abusive homes rarely see much fun!) In order to do this, they need a lil help from the community~at~large. , , First, we are looking for donations of Halloween costumes (to give out to these kids...by October 13th), for a Halloween party on October 27. , Since most of these women leave their homes (to find safety for themselves and their children) with nothing or very little, Halloween costumes are a luxury for them. If we all pull together, we can help give these kids a fun Halloween party...the kind that we enjoyed as kids!, , Second, we have a 'Young Girls Empowerment Camp Weekend' planned for early November. (Four of us are taking 20 girls from 11-17 camping! Say a lil one for me that weekend...lol) Part of the weekend's plans include a 'graduation gift bag' of small items for each girl (20 of them!)...food...camping fun ...crafts...lots of fun... that will help teach the girls self-esteem, confidence and empowerment...etc... , , Our goal is to help these girls break this vicious cycle!, , If you would like to help, please let me know!, , Thank you!, , God Bless..., Writing!
